Attorno alla scoscesa collina sulla quale sorge l'abitato di Belforte che nel XIII secolo si era fregiato del titolo di "Libero Comune" si trovano diffuse sorgenti. Le più pure e copiose furono incanalate per tutti gli usi: idropotabili, lavaggio degli indumenti, abbeveratoio per le bestie e vasche per la lavorazione della lana. In foto, la "Fonte di Sopra" ancora oggi esistente nei pressi della quale si trova un'antica pieve trasformata in edificio poderale.
