La Formula Renault venne istituita nel 1971 e comprendeva 2 Campionati dove le vetture... che nel corso degli anni avrebbero ricevuto diverse migliorie ed aggiornamenti... avevano cilindrate di 1600 e 2000 cm3. Il Campionato di 1600 cm3 era destinato ai piloti con un'età compresa fra i 14 ed i 21 anni provenienti dai Campionati corsi con i kart e vennero disputati in diverse Nazioni Europee, in altre del Sud America e pure in Cina. La vettura qui visibile è una versione del 1976 e monta un motore con 4 cilindri in linea di 1598 cm3 erogante 160 cavalli di potenza. La fotografia fu scattata durante la 3° Manches della Bologna Raticosa 2021, 33° Edizione, manifestazione destinata alle auto d'epoca.
