Hi Carlo, really beautiful the shades of color of this Vanessa of nettle that stand out well in the dark background. For the composition I would keep the subject further to the left leaving more space on the front of the butterfly and not behind and I would darken the part of the stem that remained exposed to the sun. Anyway a great macro, congratulations and good evening, hello Fabrizio.

Thank you so much to Bo, Fabrizio and Werner.
Fabrizio remarks quite correct, I did not have the sensitivity in the perfect composition of the frame. My intent is more to document the birth of a beautiful butterfly and as you well know they always find the least suitable time to get out of their chrysalis :-D , I prepared the shot quickly because I had to leave the house.
I take this opportunity to thank my son Giacomo who has worked so hard to look after caterpillars since they were really very small ;-)

Bravo Giacomo! And good Carlo. In my opinion, to overcome the problem exposed by Fabrizio you could resort to a square cut, thus excluding part of the image on the left

A nice minimal, just a hair more attention not only to the composition but also to the parallelism, you see the difference between the right wing and the left wing.

Hi Pier thank you for the surgery, I don't think I understand what you mean. You're referring to the fact that the tip of the right wing is a little out of focus? Then I should have closed the diaphragm a little. But I think it's more likely to refer to the fact that I wasn't perfectly perpendicular to the subject and I don't know if it's a compositional error. Personally it doesn't bother me ;-) .
A dear greeting
Carlo

For the composition as suggested you should have placed the subject more to the left of the observer. By parallelism I mean (sorry the sn aside of words) parallelism between subject and focus plane i.e. the sensor. Look at it well, it's not just the tip, but a good part of the right wing is less readable than the left wing. As for the tip alone it could be considering that many butterflies especially the Vanesses tend to place it just tilted, so this can get out of the PDC, but, if everything was correct you would see it the same way on both sides of the wings.

Thank you Pier for explaining the concept better. You've been very clear. In the future your advice will serve me to improve 8-)
