, Ephesus, Turkey.

Efeso, Turchia. Biblioteca di Celso. Ho ponderato a lungo (ma non troppo perché stava facendo buio) su come inquadrare..alla fine ho scelto questo compromesso che non lascia spazio sopra rifacendomi ad alcune foto di riviste di viaggio. Attendo eventuali critiche. Nikon D90+18-70 @18mm, ISO200, 1/200, f/5.6.

Hello Viaggiatorenotturno,
I've been there myself this summer to the ruins of Ephesus (unfortunately very hot and blinding to 4 pm).
I understand these are the different problems in photographing this impressive work ... last but not the light, which is behind the door for most of the day.

As for the picture I can give my opinion:
1.stringere the picture at the top you can do, but the position of the subject so that it touches the edge of the image is a mistake.
2.focale and composition there are. One option could be positioned further away (on terrapineno behind where you took) and take the subject front with a short telephoto.

I really like the shot anyway!
One question ... what is yellow-green halo above the door in the upper left? You have created the heaven?

Beautiful place, full of charm and history. I've never visited so you do not feel I can give any advice on how to compose the image. I agree but 'with F. Palerai about one of his intervention. Hello

Thanks for the steps! Above all thanks to Francis for his detailed comments and for the time you spent on it.
- With regard to the halos I did not understand what you're referring to, in the sense that, now that you have me pointed out, I see a lot of halos: ((As you well guessed I tried to recover a bit 'the sky .. nothing that a bit of contrast and saturation. believe that the mistake has been working on the ridimensionto jpg for the web (I do not have photoshop so I can not do much on RAW) .. in short, I made a rough caz.ata!
- For the speech components are usually .. attanto to always leave a little 'space, but this time I made influence. I felt the "pressure" of having to come up with a shot worthy of note given the beauty of the place. Before going there I studied the photos in magazines and travel guides. In almost all I travoto shots cut the top left. Once there I did several tests and at the end I opted for the same solution .. sure is that my choice was strongly influenced .. and maybe I'm wrong.
Thanks again for comments!

PS: @ marco .. if you have the chance you should definitely go and visit this place!

I state that I really like the picture, as far as halos considered that as Francis says the sun for most of the day behind the facade, there is little to do but a HDR (which I do not dislike at all) . As for the shot is what you see almost everywhere in tourist brochures but also in the photos "private". I too was at Ephesus (many years ago), and the whole of Turkey is perhaps the place I has stayed with me more, sooner or later I'll have riandarci also because the photos I took in analog I did not like to nothing because of the difficulties mentioned. But I try to retrieve the sky (when possible) the contrast down with him for a while.

The zones are located just above the door, where the sky "enter" into the grooves of the structure on the left ... I had prepared a photo with those parts highlighted, but I do not know how to load it in a comment!
However, the problem you pointed out yourself: is definitely having dealt with the Jpeg to more reduced for the web :)
With the raw file (once you have Photoshop) is another story.
The shot is not so bad. Just a little 'conventional. I repeat that my shots do not even place :)
See you soon,

Great shot really 8-)

with regard to the marks on the monitor I'm using now just do not see, or at least I've noticed when I read your comments ;-)
I really like the light and how you solved the problem of exposure really diifcile: the colors are bright and the detail is remarkable. 8-)
Invence not I please just cutting: the person who touches the edge in my opinion is not good: fconfuso:
