Porta Santi Quaranta, collegante la periferia ovest di Treviso al centro storico, fu costruita dalla Repubblica di Venezia durante la guerra tra quest'ultima e la Lega di Cambrai (formata da Stato pontificio, Impero Asburgico, Regno di Francia e Regno d'Aragona) e completata nel 1517, in concomitanza con la realizzazione della nuova cinta muraria che sostituì quella medievale. Il nome "Santi Quaranta" è ispirato al martirio di 40 soldati romani che sarebbero stati uccisi per la loro fede cristiana nell'anno 320 in Armenia.
