Opera del progettista galliatese Rigorini,alla sua presentazione il progetto destò perplessità per le sue forme snelle e per l'arditezza della costruzione di 93 mt di altezza. All'altezza di 13 metri il campanile restò fino al 1876 anno in cui il Consiglio comunale approvò un sussidio di 5 mila lire. Si raggiunsero così i 32 metri. Nel maggio del 1878 con altre 10 mila lire si alzò a m.45. Per ragioni di spesa si rinunciò alla copertura delle campane e Rigorini progettò un castello in ghisa a sostegno delle stesse. Le campane sarebbero rimaste allo scoperto "in modo che volendo col tempo continuare la fabbrica collo stesso progetto nulla si dovesse muovere dal posto".. L'ultimo tentativo per portare a compimento l'opera di Rigorini fu fatto in una seduta consiliare del 1889, ma la proposta di alcuni dei consilieri cadde nel vuoto. Proprio per la sua incompiutezza il campanile della parrocchiale ha da allora costituito un motivo di curiosità e di attrazione per forestieri e concittadini.
