uno degli innumerevoli simboli di Persepoli. l'antica capitale achemenide (fondata da Dario nel 500 A.C. ) è il simbolo stesso dell'Iran, o meglio dell'antica Persia. Persepoli vuol dire città di Persia (dall'antico greco)- questi reperti peraltro in parte ancora intatti si trovano vicino alla città di Shiraz- è stata costruita in calcare grigio con sfumature ocra che si evidenziano ulteriormente con la luce serale- era una delle 5 capitali dell'impero achemenide - (le altre erano Babilonia, Ecbatana, Pasargade e Susa).
