Il Monte Grammondo dalla vetta della Cima Longoira , fotografato a giugno del 2001 con la mia prima compatta digitale da 2 MP . Il territorio del Comune di Ventimiglia ( IM ) è definito ad Occidente da due monti che , emergendo dal Mar Ligure a Capo Mortola , coprono un'area lunga 10 chilometri in allineamento Sud-Nord : la Cima Longoira ( m. 1146 s.l.m. ) ed il Monte Grammondo ( m. 1378 s.l.m. ) . La Longoira deve il proprio nome alla sua caratteristica morfologia , un acuto crinale lungo ben 4.500 metri che strapiomba soprattutto sul versante est , italiano , con una parete rocciosa alta fino a 200 metri fasciata da grandi ghiaioni . La Cima si trova sul confine di stato tra Italia e Francia ; la quota apparentemente modesta diventa rilevante se si tiene conto di quanto sia vicina al mare : circa 3,5 km in linea d'aria separano il suo culmine dal litorale di Menton Garavan . Sul breve lato Sud , la Longoira degrada decisa verso la Punta Mortola , precipitando verso il mare con alti dirupi che includono gli abitati di Ciotti ( Mortola Superiore ) , Grimaldi e La Mortola ( Mortola inferiore ) , oltre ai famosi Giardini Hanbury e alle rocche paleolitiche dei Balzi Rossi . Nonostante la vicinanza del mare l'ambiente è assai selvaggio e impervio , a metà tra un paesaggio alpino e l'ambiente solare della Costa Azzurra . Il Monte Grammondo è la vetta più alta del gruppo montuoso omonimo . La montagna è ben riconoscibile anche da lontano , sia perchè svetta sulle cime circostanti , sia perchè ha una caratteristica sagoma ad ampia cupola . Nonostante la quota relativamente modesta , l'ambiente del Grammondo è di alta montagna ; le rocce dolomitiche che formano questi crinali affiorano molto spesso , formando alti dirupi , pareti , contrafforti rocciosi ed enormi ghiaioni . #Montagna #Mountains #Panoramiche #BiancoeNero #BlackAndWhite
