L'altro ieri ho trascorso l'intera giornata sul sito dell'eruzione nella valle di Geldingadalur. E' stata una notte dura a causa del freddo, dei gas avvelenanti e della mancanza di sonno. Ho dovuto continuare a camminare tutta la notte per riscaldarmi. Ma ne è valsa la pena! Al tramonto la zona era così gremita di gente che ha perso un po' della sua magia. Sembrava di essere alla sagra della polenta e salsiccia versione Islandese! Gente che cantava, sparava fuochi d'artificio, aveva la musica a tutto volume e cose del genere. Poi c'erano decine di droni in giro, aerei ed elicotteri. Insomma il caos totale! Ma non appena la maggior parte delle persone se ne sono andate (dopo mezzanotte) il luogo è ridiventato assolutamente, nuovamente magico! Questa foto è stata scattata intorno alle 3 del mattino sul lato opposto rispetto a dove sta usualmente la maggior parte delle persone. Il paesaggio è così arido e suggestivo che la sensazione di trovarsi su un altro pianeta è assolutamente reale. Sono abbastanza sicuro di non aver mai provato niente del genere prima d'ora nella mia vita.
