Il 24 ottobre 2010 in occasione della biennale dell'arte a Venezia avevo con me la mia piccola compatta, purtroppo in quel fine settimana la città era avvolta da una malinconica atmosfera per niente romantica, riconosco che per tale ricorrenza meritava immagini migliori, ma queste ho e queste vi propongo per il 1600° anno dalla fondazione di quella che diverrà la Serenissima. - Secondo la tradizione, il primo insediamento a Venezia si colloca in un'isola poco più alta delle altre, per questo chiamata Rivus Altus (da cui Rialto). A seguito nel primo commento altre immagini e storia della posa della prima pietra.

Le origini di Venezia tra storia e leggenda.

La nascita della città risale al giorno dell'Annunciazione il 25 marzo 421 quando fu posta la prima pietra per costruire la Chiesa di San Giacometto (o San Giacometo) come voto per essere stato salvato da un incendio. Sembra che il primo insediamento a Venezia sia avvenuto in un'isola della laguna che si presentava alla popolazione del tempo un po' più alta delle altre e che proprio per questo era nota come Rivus Altus, termine da cui poi è derivato il nome Rialto.

In quel periodo l'Italia era teatro delle feroci scorribande dei barbari e la laguna un luogo ideale dove rifugiarsi, visto che gli invasori si muovevano per lo più a cavallo.

Da recenti scavi archeologici si è infatti constatato che verso la metà del V secolo gli abitanti di Aquileia si rifugiarono nelle isolette della laguna per scampare alle invasioni, ma si trovano tracce della presenza di insediamenti abitati già dall'epoca romana.
