La Triumph TR 3 fu costruita in 3 serie fra il 1955 ed il 1962. Nel primo anno di produzione le TR3 erano dotate di 4 freni a tamburo ma già dal 1956 quelli anteriori divennero a disco... di serie. La seconda serie della vettura... visibile nella fotografia e denominata TR 3 A... vide l'inizio della produzione nel 1957 e fu costruita in Gran Bretagna, in Australia, in Belgio ed in Sud Africa. Originariamente trattasi di una roadster a 2 posti dotata di una capotina in tela ma come optional poteva essere dorata di un terzo posto, posteriore, e di un hard top rigido. Era dotata di un motore a 4 cilindri in linea di 1991 cm3 posizionato anteriormente che... erogando 100 cavalli di potenza.... spingeva la vettura fino a oltre 175 chilometri orari di velocità massima. La trazione era posteriore. Nel solo 1962 ad una parte della produzione venne sostituito il motore con un nuovo 4 cilindri in linea di 2138 cm3 erogante 105 cavalli di potenza per una velocità massima di 177 chilometri orari. Questa versione... denominata TR 3 B... e prodotta in poco più di 3300 esemplari... fu venduta solo sul mercato statunitense.
