La Ford Mustang viene costruita dal 1964 in versione Coupé, Cabriolet e pure alcune con Tetto Panoramico. Questa nella fotografia è una versione Coupè appartenente alla V Serie… costruita dal 2005 al 2014 e monta un propulsore V8 di 5000 cm3 erogante 420 cavalli: questo specifico modello è stato impiegato con un certo successo nel Campionato Americano per Automobili Gran Turismo denominato Grand-Am Cup dove raggiungeva i 250 chilometri orari di velocità massima. La V Serie fu dotata di differenti propulsori dotati di 6 o 8 cilindri a V di 60°. Mentre il 6 cilindri aveva una cilindrata di 4000 cm3 erogante 210 cavalli di potenza… gli 8 cilindri hanno avuto cilindrate di 4600 cm3 erogante 300 o 315 cavalli di potenza, 5000 cm3 per 420 o 445 cavalli e 5400 cm3 sovralimentato erogante 500 cavalli. Il cambio di velocità poteva essere automatico oppure manuale con 5 rapporti più la retromarcia. Il nome Mustang è derivato da un termine spagnolo significante non domato e appartiene ad una razza equina selvaggia molto veloce e resistente. Diversi di questi cavalli vennero addomesticati ed utilizzati dai Pony Express per il servizio postale nel Nord degli Stati Uniti partendo dal 1860.
