Constructive Comment:
I have been looking at this photo for a while because I'm sure it has a story only that I struggle to interpret it.
The building is imposing and the child curls up in a corner: he could be frightened or tired but his expression does not betray any of these feelings but seems solely focused on who is photographing him and seems to think: what does this do here ?photograph me instead of the church as everyone does?
I don't think this is the message that was in the infections transmit but beyond I can not go ... perhaps a wider and contextualized shot, designed to capture the greatness of the place as opposed to the small hidden in a corner, could tell something more.

Constructive Comment:
Probably the child put himself there as he could, if he had been in a forest, climbing a tree.
But that's not what matters about this photo. Instead, it is of interest to the interpretation that can be given on a symbolic level.
The small and defenseless child who is intimidated by so much granite (or perhaps better marble) greatness. The awe that the immense architectural elements can exert is important.
The Church and the child are not on an equal footing... and here I stop.
For the formal aspect I have nothing to say: for me it is perfect.

Constructive comment:
Difficult to interpret the thoughts of the child (thanks to the presence of the mask) and why he put himself in that place and in that way.
So already from this point of view the photo is not perfectly successful and obviously not through your
faultAs for the composition unfortunately the subject is placed excessively in the corner and this creates a bit of tension, amplified also by the fact that the photo develops excessively upwards. I would try a 4/3 cut

@Skylab59 your interpretation coincides exactly with my intentions and attitude of closure, despite the defiant gaze (which sometimes in children is defensive), shows, or I hope shows, its sensation within this immense space, a feeling often sought in Catholic sacred construction. Thanks
@Sadko "the subject is placed excessively in the corner and this creates a bit of tension, also amplified by the fact that the photo develops excessively upwards" this was precisely the intention of the photo: the very strong tension of the child-space relationship. Thank you

I see the big columns a bit like the legs of a gigantic being who wants to impose himself on the little man.
Maybe the cartoon is not the right one, but I have not found anything else... ;-)

Some photos catch a situation on the fly, and borrow it to say something else.
That's the beauty of photography 8-)

Commento costruttivo:

@RobBot
I really appreciate your careful analysis but on one point I do not agree: the child is basically leaning on the diagonal that joins the upper right corner with the lower left one, in addition the triangle of dark lines that starts from the base of the photo leads directly to him, I would say that there are lines that lead to the child. It was not my intention to present the child as a symbol of purity, as an elementary school teacher I have lost this idea for many years now.
I agree that the child's area is very dark but this is a choice to emphasize the attempt to hide in front of all this immensity, the fear and the sense of bewilderment that the interior of St. Peter manages to give.
Thanks for your comment

@Il Mr. Mario

the child is basically leaning on the diagonal that joins the upper right corner with the lower left one,

excuse me but probably for my limitations I find it difficult to place on that diagonal that is I can not see it, unless when you refer to right and left we always talk looking at the image or right and left of the subject?
I'm practical, have you tried to simulate the crop I suggested? ;-)
It was not my intention to present the child as a symbol of purity, as an elementary school teacher I have lost this idea for many years now.

in the Sacred symbolism it is so, the child has always represented the Self. I agree that today's children raised to Peppa Pig to say hours of TV and snacks, have lost a little naivety.

Commento costruttivo:

@MatteoGroppi thanks for the careful passage, removed the appearance of the father, you have centered the intentions; the feeling I had seeing this child was precisely that of being in front of a child "frightened" by the majesty of the environment, and the absence of adults around him so much that I could shoot quietly, reinforces the feeling of disorientation that he transmitted. Thanks to the comments I have the feeling of having hit the purpose of the shot.

Ciao

Your photo is very well made. Cute the child who almost hides and photograph him in the corner with a huge column next to him and certainly a great idea: will he have fled because he was scolded by his parents? Will he try to make a joke so as not to get caught? Will he be bored and tired of being there? Moreover, the presence of the mask prevents you from seeing the cduacexpresdione and does not allow you to understand wuxlvodiba more.
good! I would have just tried to open the shadows a little to make the child even more visible
