Facciata Sud del santuario di S. Maria di Piazza a Busto Arsizio. Il santuario di fu edificato tra il 1517 e 1522 per iniziativa della Scuola dei Poveri e dedicato all'Assunta. Forse già dal XVI s. è noto come Madonna dell'Aiuto. In stile bramantesco, il progetto è attribuito all'architetto Antonio da Lonate. I portali delle facciate Ovest e Sud sono opera dello scultore e architetto Tommaso Rodari, attivo nel duomo di Como. Il campanile, separato dalla chiesa, risale al XVI s. nella parte bassa in mattoni, mentre la parte alta fu aggiunta da Carlo Maciachini tra il 1886 e il 1889. Una copia di questa chiesa fu realizzata nel 1891-93 nel famoso villaggio di Crespi d'Adda: 1così la volle il fondatore del villaggio, Cristoforo Benigno Crespi, originario di Busto Arsizio. #chiese #Rinascimento
