La chiesa presenta uno spiccato stile romanico, Il nucleo primitivo, molto più ridotto rispetto all'attuale struttura, doveva essere adibito a luogo di sepoltura per gli abitanti della zona, e presentava un orientamento differente, in direzione del lago da cui dista poche decine di metri. Era allora lontana dal centro abitato, in una zona isolata. L'isolamento è andato perduto dopo la costruzione della Strada Statale 42 che passa a pochi metri dall'edificio. Nel periodo che va dal XIV ed il XV secolo, la chiesa venne sottoposta a lavori di ristrutturazione, che modificarono notevolmente la struttura senza tuttavia comprometterne i tratti caratteristici dello stile romanico. Venne modificato l'orientamento, spostando l'ingresso verso sud, aggiunta una navata nella quale venne inglobata l'abside preesistente ed eliminata la delimitazione a nord al fine di favorire l'allungamento della struttura in quella direzione. All'inizio del XVI secolo venne eretto il campanile. Epoca di costruzione: sec. XII - sec. XV
