Il 21 dicembre scorso, giorno del solstizio d'inverno 2020, nel cielo è avvenuto un fenomeno abbastanza raro, grazie al quale i due pianeti più grandi del sistema solare, Giove e Saturno, sono sembrati vicinissimi tra loro: non accadeva dal 1623 e tale fenomeno non si ripeterà – con queste caratteristiche - fino al 2080. I due pianeti, visti dalla Terra, pur rimanendo distanti tra loro oltre 700 milioni di chilometri, hanno brillato separati soltanto di un decimo di grado, sembrando, ad occhio nudo, una sola luce. Io e il mio amico Paul Waddington abbiamo osservato l'evento e abbiamo ripreso la congiunzione planetaria, utilizzando un telescopio Sky Watcher 127 di focale 1500 mm., sia fotograficamente (io) che con un filmato elaborato successivamente (Paul Waddington). Ecco i risultati: come è evidente, l'utilizzo della telecamera e di circa 5000 frames del filmato, elaborati in post produzione, hanno ottenuto un risultato assai migliore di quello reso da un singolo scatto fotografico tradizionale.
