Questa è l'ultima vipera osservata nel 2020, in una tiepida giornata di novembre, si tratta di una piccola femmina dalla livrea dorata piuttosto rara. Questo neonato di circa 10 cm si preparava ad affrontare il suo primo inverno, l'istinto la guiderà a trovare un rifugio sicuro nel terreno dove l'umidità manterrà la temperatura sopportabile, la neve abbondante di quest'anno sarà servita da isolante, proteggendo i quartieri invernali dalle gelate notturne. Spero tra poco di poterla osservare di nuovo mentre si scalda ai primi raggi della primavera. Un piccolo gioiello estremamente fragile costretto ad affrontare le mille insidie che la natura le riserverà. Questo esemplare rappresenta per me il simbolo di una speranza, la conservazione di una popolazione estremamente fragile, che a causa del progressivo abbandono del pascolo e il conseguente avanzamento del bosco sta perdendo ogni anno parte del proprio habitat. In lei ritrovo la speranza di poter mantenere intatto un ecosistema tanto meraviglioso quanto precario, posso solo aspettare e guardare da semplice spettatore le sorprese che la natura mi saprà offrire.
