La Basilica di San Lorenzo Maggiore è un eccezionale palinsesto di costruzioni, restauri, distruzioni e riedificazioni stratificatesi, nel corso di circa 1.500 anni, a partire dal 372 d.C.. Il colonnato tra il sagrato e il Corso di Porta Ticinese è stato costrruito alla fine del IV sec. con materiale di recupero da un edificio del II sec d.C.. Si vedano i link nel commento sottostante. Questa foto documenta anche una tipica sciatteria milanese nell'arredo urbano che interessa persino luoghi come questo, di grandissimo interesse storico e artistico.
