La Fiat 8V… conosciuta come “Ottovu”… fu prodotta nel triennio 1952-54 nella sola versione Berlinetta nello stabilimento Sezione Carrozzerie Speciali della Fiat. La carrozzeria venne disegnata dall'ingegnere Luigi Fabio Rapi ed era motorizzata con un 8 cilindri a V di 70° di 1996 cm3 che erogando 105 cavalli di potenza portava la vettura prossima ai 180 chilometri orari di velocità massima: poi la potenza aumentò a 127 cavalli e la velocità massima sarà di 195 chilometri orari. Di "Ottovu" ne verranno costruite 114 (una con la carrozzeria in fibra di vetro) mentre alcune decine di telai e propulsori verranno acquistati dalle Carrozzerie di Balbo, Bertone, Ghia, Motto, Pininfarina, Stabilimenti Farina, Vignale e Zagato per farne delle esclusive versioni Coupé, Spider e Barchetta. Nel 1954 la carrozzeria venne ridisegnata… ed è quella che si vede in questa fotografia. Altri propulsori del primo tipo furono costruiti per essere destinati alla motorizzazione della 208 Sport Spider prodotta dalla Siata (Società Italiana Applicazioni Tecniche Auto-Aviatorie) di Giorgio Ambrosini a Torino a partire dal 1952 che... venendo potenziati erogavano 140 cavalli.
