Questa “Macchinetta”… come venne definita… naqque come studio/prototipo… ed è l'unico esemplare esistente. Venne assemblata nel biennio 1952-53 da Giotto Bizzarrini (nato a Livorno nel 1926) mentre portava a termine gli studi di ingegneria meccanica presso l'ateneo di Pisa: tale vettura verrà poi presentata come parte integrante della tesi di laurea. Il telaio utilizzato era quello di una Fiat 500 C “Topolino” a balestra corta su cui fu assemblata la carrozzeria in alluminio disegnata dallo stesso Giotto. Il motore utilizzato era invece quello della precedente serie “Topolino” 500 B che originariamente aveva la testata in ghisa (mentre nella 500 C tale testata era costruita in alluminio): un 4 cilindri in linea di 569 cm3 erogante 16,5 cavalli di potenza. Per aumentare la potenza Bizzarrini sostituì la testata con una elaborata dalla Siata (Società Italiana Applicazioni Tecniche Auto Aviatorie) di Torino che dotata di 2 carburatori Dell'Orto conferiva alla “Macchinetta” una potenza che poteva essere variata dai 25 ai 30 cavalli per una velocità massima compresa tra i 145 ed i 155 chilometri orari… mica pochi per una simile vetturetta. Rispetto alla collocazione originale… all'altezza dell'assale anteriore… il gruppo propulsore/cambio di velocità venne spostato più vicino all'abitacolo per conferire alla vettura un migliore bilanciamento ed un albero di trasmissione cardanica alle ruote posteriori più corto. Si racconta che furono proprio le prestazioni di questa vetturetta... con cui Giotto Bizzarrini si era recato a Maranello... che fecero colpo su Enzo Ferrari che lo assunse in azienda... dove inizierà la sua ascesa diventando molto noto e famoso… anche negli anni a seguire… per aver progettato tante automobili da sogno fa cui le famose Ferrari 250 nelle versioni Testa Rossa, GT SWB e GTO ed anche per aver concepito e realizzato il 12 cilindri a V di 60° di 3500 cm3 che nel 1963 motorizzerà la 350 GTV… la prima vettura prodotta da Ferruccio Lamborghini. Dal 1964 al 1969 Giotto avrà pure una propria azienda per la progettazione e la costruzione di splendide vetture… la Prototipi Bizzarrini… che poi diventerà Bizzarrini S.p.a. con sede a Livorno. La fotografia quì visibile venne scattata durante un temporale.
