La Fiat 520 venne costruita in circa 21600 esemplari nelle versioni Berlina, Cabriolet, Torpedo, Limousine Landaulette dal 1927 al 1931. Nelle varie versioni poteva trasportare 2, 4 o 5 persone. Era dotata di un motore a 6 cilindri in linea di 2244 cm3 che erogando 46 cavalli portavano la vettura fino a 100 chilometri orari. Dotata di cambio a 4 marce e trazione posteriore fu la prima vettura prodotta dalla Fiat che di serie aveva la guida a sinistra e l'accensione dotata di spinterogeno. Negli anni 1928 - 1930 furono costruiti anche circa 600 esemplari denominati 520 T destinati all'uso Taxi. Questi avevano un motore, sempre a 6 cilindri in linea, di 1866 cm3 erogante 35 cavalli mentre la carrozzeria era di tipo Landaulette a 4 posti. Nel biennio 1921 - 1922 La Fiat aveva già costruito una vettura la cui sigla era 520 che però era più nota come "Superfiat". Dopo pochi chilometriche percorsi... dopo che avevo scattato questa fotografia... alla vettura si ruppe il piantone dello sterzo in una curva con la conseguenza che finì in fondo ad un canale. La vettura subì gravi danni mentre gli occupanti se la cavarono con qualche esoriazione e con un grande spavento.
