Beautiful ... with an orientation unusual that I like ;-)

If I put the shooting data that would be great:-D

Hello Manolito, you see that the effort is paying off! M 42 as before you went more than good, as you may have noticed the center is saturated, to avoid this I suggest you do more short poses.
In practice you should do at least 3 poses, long exposure to the outer nebulosity, put medium and short exposures to avoid saturation of the center, after which they will take together with Photoshop or any other graphics program.

M42 nebula is a very complex, I have photographed a 2 years ago and I tell you that it took me 2 days of processing, however this is not bad, attention to background noise sky that you see enough!

It is actually because there is a bit of noise were made only a few poses and one dark, flat without bias it, because believe me it was a cold pork was almost -4 ° .. next time I hope to do it with all the necessary arrangements and many more poses ..! I hope at least that there is also some degree in most '..! :-P

Manolitop76 Hello, I am a friend of Michael, and with him we made several outputs to Rioveggio, and I also made the basis of his frame of his telescope!

wow ... you also know the Great Michael ..! is my master ...! I hope gradually to improve more and more also because I uploaded the picture is not high resolution ... I have to replace it, that actually does not have all this noise.!! by Buci Meet once on from Michele .. I'd love to meet you!

Confuso

I think that as a result of your first experience of astrophotography you can be fully satisfied! I like the processing is not too heavy and the colors. Tips for the next picture to M42: do more poses and possibly a series of longer exposures to highlight the outer parts and weaknesses, and one or two sets with shorter times to avoid saturation of the Trapezium too the area (which is in this photo a bit 'overexposed, but not too much). In addition, the dark should be a little 'more, one is not enough. I usually with 10/12 poses 8/10 minutes I try to have at least 5/6 dark, although it would be better to match the number of poses. It 'also true that the dark take away time, but you can also do them while you are already taking apart, just that the telescope is plugged. A further improvement in the get by even the flat fiel frames: by eliminatingor the vignettaura due to the objective, the differences in response of pixels of the sensor, any dusts and dirt on optical and / or sensor. At first seem useless, but I assure you that when I started using them I saw the difference.

A good start and keeps up!

hello

Clear

PS: when I started with 1/30 s M42 me dreaming! : Fconfuso:

Sorry if I'm intruding, but I've always wondered one thing: it is normal to have different poses (with different parameters) because the intensity of light in a nebula like M42 is very different from region to region. Now, assuming that I have made different poses with long time, with different time with different medium and short time, after I'm going to sum up in a single image. But the Dark or rather, the dark to process with which of the three settings will I do?

Ciao!

Chiara

Vesper, if you need to do 3 sets of poses too dark with the times for the 3 different poses. You'll get 3 pictures from the average (or sum, or otherwise) of three different series of poses and not a single one. The 3 images the go then to compositare with Photoshop (or another) with the use of levels (or with the automatic merge of Photoshop, but not as good results as the same job done manually).

PS: I have not forgotten your photos, perhaps in this we can fix it. Hello!

Clear

Ciao Manolitop76,

Davide

Hello Manolitop76,
to be the first image of M42: CONGRATULATIONS!
As suggestions, not much to add to what has already been said Clare. Increase the number of dark and if you can also bias and flat ... I assure you that the result improves bad ;-)!
The number of exposures increase it while you can. Remember that the noise reduces as the square root of the number of shots (approx.), then with 4 shots have reduced noise (only) a factor of 2 ... sum, sum boy! :-D
The focus is perfect, the field however is not the best. Try checking the collimation of the telescope and if it is ok I think in the future you will have to buy a coma corrector (like I did ... I have your same instrument 8-)).
I am attaching my first photo of M42 (single click) andffettuato with Newton 150/750 SkyWatcher the (old series, the blue ones)

as you can see is your best ...
then again congratulations and keep it up!!
David
