allora con il termine "Silhouette" si intende la riproduzione grafica bidimensionale del contorno di un oggetto, di una persona o di ogni altra figura rappresentabile. Il termine nacque in Francia, nella seconda metà del XVIII secolo, per indicare una tecnica di ritratto, eseguito riproducendo i soli contorni del viso, come un'ombra, chiamati "profil à la silhouette".
