Adesso alcune nozioni da Wikipedia: Il monte Paterno, (Paternkofel in tedesco), è una montagna delle Dolomiti alta 2.746 m s.l.m.. Sorge nelle Dolomiti di Sesto al Confine tra Veneto e Alto Adige, a fianco delle più rinomate Tre Cime di Lavaredo. È storicamente famoso, dato che durante la prima guerra mondiale, si trovava lungo la frontiera tra il confine italiano e quello austriaco. Al suo interno furono quindi scavate alcune gallerie, tra cui la famosa galleria Paterno, per raggiungere la cima. Il Paterno è formato dall'intersezione di 3 creste: il Paterno vero e proprio a nord-ovest, la Croda Passaporto a sud e la cresta est, protesa verso il Pian di Cengia. Queste tre creste presentano diverse elevazioni e sono tutte attraversate dai resti dei camminamenti della Grande Guerra.
