Ne possiedo circa 24, 12 per lato e si chiamano "Vibrisse" disposte su 4 file orizzontali; hanno radici tre volte più profonde dei normali peli e molto irrorate da vasi sanguigni e per questo aumentano la trasmissione degli impulsi nervosi. Per me sono indispensabili per trovare la strada al buio, per identificare le parti di una preda cacciata, per capire se e come entrare in uno spazio angusto per poi poterne uscire, per tenere un saldo equilibrio quando cado. Percepisco con esse ogni movimento dell'aria, intuisco la presenza di qualcuno anche al buio; quando le tengo a riposo, percepisco bene la direzione del vento e la presenza dell'umidità nell'aria. Insomma dei veri RADAR che mi permettono di essere monello in tutti gli ambienti che mi circondano... Una raccomandazione: non me li tagliate mai, mi fareste perdere tutto ciò in un sol colpo.
