Ne esistono pochi, pochissimi, di luoghi come il lago di Balea: già solo la strada che si deve percorrere per giungervi (il cui nome non pronuncerò qui per paura di evocare qualche demone) è un'icona. Serpeggia attraverso l'intera gola inerpicandosi con un numero incalcolabile di curve. Alla fine ci attende lo spettacolo di un lago a 2000 metri d'altezza circondato su quasi tutti i lati da 300 metri di rocce acuminate che nascondono dietro di loro un intero sistema di piccoli laghetti e ruscelli acquattati in mezzo allo scenario di un'intera catena montuosa. Per me, accanito amante della montagna, scoprire questo luogo è stata una vera emozione. Certo, non è sempre tutto meraviglioso come vorremmo... Il posto è giustamente una meta molto ambita, e trabocca di turisti, soprattutto rumeni, che decidono di passarvi le vacanze. Diventa quindi una situazione grottesca in quanto vi è un'unica strada a due corsie che collega i due lati della catena montuosa, e qui al centro di questa stradina si concentrano centinaia e centinaia di autoveicoli che chiaramente non possono trovare posto, creando quindi file chilometriche da far invidia al raccordo anulare. Tutto sommato però non è così grave, alla fine i turisti tornano a casa, l'aria si ferma, e lassù, lontano da quel caos tutto quello che rimane sono io... perduto nel momento, nella mente nessun pensiero, solo l'emozione. Questo è il mio tributo a quella piccola scatola nera che mi piace così tanto portarmi dietro. Che mi spinge in luoghi incredibili, alimenta la mia curiosità e mi fa sforzare a guardare al mondo, a guardarlo davvero. Da quando c'è lei ho scoperto quanti dettagli mi circondano, che vale la pena salire per centinaia di metri al tramonto o all'alba per qualche minuto di luce... ed ogni tanto torno a casa e riesco ad essere orgoglioso del risultato. Panoramica, unione di più scatti su treppiede.
