Silenziose, eleganti,non danno quasi nell'occhio queste antiche barche che da secoli ( si dice dal 1500) trasportano pescatori durante il loro lavoro sul lago di Como . Si chiamano " Lucia", o " Batell" e sono imbarcazioni a remi o a vela ( anche se ora sono ormai tutte dotate di motore), simbolo indiscusso del Lario. Fu progettata come barca da pesca, i pescatori la utilizzavano per trasportare il frutto del proprio lavoro ovvero Agoni, Lavarelli o pesci Persici, pronti per essere venduti al mercato del pesce lungo le rive del Lario, oppure a ristoranti e osterie. Il suo nome deriva da Lucia Mondella , promessa sposa di Renzo Tramaglino , che assieme alla madre Agnese fuggirono e attraversarono il lago di Como grazie ad un "Batell, che in seguito al successo del romanzo del Manzoni ha cambiato nome in " Lucia".
