La Rocca Sanvitale si trova a Fontanellato (PR) al centro del borgo. La storia dell'edificazione della Rocca Sanvitale può essere fatta risalire all'anno 1124 quando venne eretta una prima torre di difesa da parte dei Pallavicino. A tale periodo viene fatta risalire proprio la costruzione del mastio centrale della Rocca, che serve anche come porta di ingresso, oggi attraverso un ponte di pietra, originariamente attraverso un ponte levatoio. Nel 1386 le terre di Fontanellato con la relativa Rocca, vennero cedute ai Sanvitale. Nel 1404, il feudo venne trasformato in contea: fu in tale periodo che la Rocca di Fontanellato divenne una residenza signorile di notevole importanza. La Rocca appartenne alla famiglia Sanvitale fino al 1948 anno in cui Giovanni Sanvitale la vendette all'amministrazione comunale. (Da I Castelli del Ducato)
