"Like a Nativity Scene": This evening, July 17th, the sky cleared of the morning rains convinced me to try a image of the comet from a location not entirely free of light pollution, that is the town where I live, Montecassiano (MC - ITALY). After identifying it fairly easily with the naked eye and positioning the faithful Minitrack LX3 in no time, I took a series of 20 shots from 15 seconds to 200 ISO on the comet with an 85mm focal length lens closed at F / 2 on an FF SLR. In addition to these images, I took some shots with shorter times on the country to shoot it without overexposed areas, here is all recomposed with careful processing work on DSS and PSD.

How wonderful!!!! I don't have a tracker unfortunately, according to you making so many shots from 1 sec. with a 400 mm deep sky stacker can align them and maybe get something decent (I don't say similar but at least better than the single exposure)?

Gorgeous. So can it be visible even in the evening as well as in the morning?

Rui10 if you have a good FF and an optics at least F2 you can try with poses from 5 seconds to 800-1600 iso, in this case the chase can also be superfluous, although it still gives some advantage.

@cristinafat the 400 is 5.6... I could try 50 but I think it's too small

Maury I think it was about 10:20 p.m., as soon as it was dark enough.

I ask you one last info, forgive my ignorance in this matter but I'm curious... with an 85 for more on FF should not see much smaller comet??? Is it because of the sum of the files that you could crop a lot?? forgives ignorance and still compliments... I'm going Monday... at point in addition to the samyang 14 pre the milky that I bring, 50 1.4 or 85 1.8???

I didn't crop anything! It is that if you extend the exposure time (chasing if you go beyond 5 seconds of laying with 85) you can record up to the weakest parts of the comet, which is quite extensive, more than the eye can see.
