La Volvo P 1800 venne costruita in Svezia dal 1961 al 1973 nelle versioni Coupé (questa nella fotografia) e Shooting Brake (dal 1971). Aveva un motore a 4 cilindri in linea di 1779 cm3 che erogava 96 cavalli di potenza poi elevati a 103 dal 1966. Dal 1969 il propulsore fu elevato a 1986 cm3 erogando così 118 cavalli di potenza (versione 1800 E riconoscibile per l'adozione della mascherina anteriore di colore nero opaco al posto dell'antecedente di tipo cromato) che poi... dal 1971... divennero 126 (versione 1800 ES). Inizialmente costruita nello stabilimento di Jensen... dal 1963 la produzione venne trasferita a Goteborg per elevare il livello qualitativo della vettura... così la sua sigla da P 1800 diventò 1800 S. Una Volvo P 1800 compare nella serie televisiva di Simon Templar (1962-69) "il Santo" interpretato da Roger Moore e che è la trasposizione cinematografica dei romanzi scritti da Leslie Charteris.
