Usually a well-executed shot and an interesting caption. I still see thermal traction as well as there remained a line from Pavia to Mantua (little more than a bus) of exasperating slowness, and another that I jokingly always called "the paddy arrow" from Pavia to Novara, Vercelli. I wonder if it wouldn't be better opportunity to convert it to US-type thermo-electric.
Good day.
Paolo

Hello Paolo, I do not know the Line Pavia-Mantova that unfortunately I have never traveled but I know well the Vercelli-Mortara-Pavia that in this period is a line that presents photographic cues among the flooded rice paddies. These lines are the preserve of the thermal cars ALn668 and 663, on the other hand passenger traffic is modest outside school and commute hours, at most a double of tractor-trailers. It is already so much that they have not been cut as "dry branches" as unfortunately happened for the Asti-Casale, the Vercelli-Casale, the Novara-Varallo etc.
Buy day.

What a sight!! the secondary lines remained "true", worthy of interest but unfortunately left out by many administrations as unprofitable (but only for their sudden administration). The 1400 series if I remember correctly was the one with gearbox suitable for the acclivid lines. If memory does not betray me (and often does) Satti ran a rack in Turin (Maximum tell me if I'm wrong). Congratulations, though.

Good evening Il Gattone 65, thank you for the visit and enjoying this setting of the FIAT car, when you can always look for a shot that integrates the railway vehicle with the landscape. As for your observations the 1400 series was built at the Savigliano Workshops, the FS-intended cars had a top speed of 110 km/h while for the SATTI it was set at 88 km/h. LE ALn668 mounted two engines from trucks calibrated to 110 kw. The Sassi-Superga rack is always active.
Good night.
