Una sera di primavera, verso le 18 e 30. Sto tornando a casa dal lavoro, fa caldo e i finestrini della mia impolverata Duster nera sono abbassati. La radio sta trasmettendo un dibattito sul lockdown, cambio canale ed eccomi investito da una folata di vento sonoro: Johnny Cash canta Ghost Riders in the Sky. È il concentrato epico della canzone western, le trombe, il ritmo della cavalcata musicale, la voce profonda e malinconica di Johnny Cash fanno apparire nei cieli aridi di Paullo la possente mandria di mucche rosse coi marchi fiammeggianti e gli zoccoli di acciaio.
