, 1/60 f/14.0, ISO 100, tripod.

A shot of 4 Chalkhill Blue Butterflies, the top one is a Female, the bottom 3 are Males. As you can see from the shutter speed, low ISO and very narrow aperture, this shot was taken in bright morning light, but I needed that to get the butterflies to open their wings :). I used the 500mm (this is full frame) because it's quite a large macro scene and I wanted to blur the bg as much as possible (the background is a distant meadow/field)....I also used a full set of kenko extension tubes and this was a close as possible to focus with this set-up.........thanks for looking, cheers! :-)

A real beaut, Steve! Quite a different use for your 500. The BG really helps the subjects pop. What I think makes the composition special is the curve of the plant stem. A perfectly vertical stem would not have been so impactful.
