Il fenicottero fotografato è un immaturo.
Per chi non ne fosse a conoscenza il fenicottero acquista il colore rosa per via dell'alimentazione.
Infatti si ciba di un particolare crostaceo l'Artemia saline e di larve di chironomidi. E' proprio il piccolo crostaceo rosso a dare il colore al fenicottero.
