Secondo l'iscrizione posta sulla base, la statua fu dedicata dai cittadini di Messenia e Naupatto dopo una vittoria riportata(forse la Battaglia di Sfacteria). L'opera è collocata al centro del Museo ed ha un impatto scenografico straordinario. Assolutamente bella
