those who go for ponds and lagoons in Sardinia always hope to spot one... but for decades now we have lost track of it... the old fishermen of the Oristani wetlands still tell today that the female laid a single egg so large that it loses consciousness and thus be at the mercy of men and predators... and that would be the basis of the disappearance on the island... legends aside, I think portraying it in nature is every naturalist photographer's dream!!!
beautiful shot, great !!!!! chi va per stagni e lagune in sardegna spera sempre di avvistarne uno...ma ormai sono decenni che se ne sono perse le tracce...i vecchi pescatori delle zone umide oristanesi raccontano ancor oggi che la femmina deponesse un solo uovo così grande da farle perdere conoscenza ed essere cosi alla mercé di uomini e predatori...e proprio questo sarebbe alla base della scomparsa nell'isola...leggende a parte, penso che ritrarlo in natura sia il sogno di ogni fotografo naturalista!!!
