Quindi bisogna prendere tante foto sia per sperare di beccare così i momenti migliori (infatti questa tecnica si chiama anche lucky imaging) sia per poi poter sommare tante delle foto migliori ed abbattere così il rumore che ci sarà inevitabilemente, e fare uscire ancora più dettagli. Tutto ciò si fa con software dedicati, tipicamente gratuiti come Autostakkert!3 , che si occupano anche di scegliere le foto migliori semplicemente calcolando il contrasto locale e prendendo quelle con maggior contrasto ovvero maggiori dettagli.
