Quella delle fanove è un'antica festa popolare del paese di Castellana Grotte. Questa tradizione esiste sin dal 1690-91, anni in cui il paese fu colpito dalla peste. I Falò ricordano ogni anno il miracoloso intervento della Madonna della Vetrana che liberò i Castellanesi da questa epidemia.
