Santa Teresa in Valle (Cerea, Verona). A meno di un km dal luogo ripreso il Fiume Menago, regimato dalla Repubblica di Venezia, confluirà nel Fissero-Tartaro-Canal Bianco dopo aver attraversato quasi per intero le Grandi Valli Veronesi. Queste aree fino alla fine del '700 erano quasi totalmente acquitrinose (da cui il nome, Valli appunto, che ritroviamo anche nell'immediato entroterra di Venezia e Chioggia e della parte sud-est della Provincia di Padova) e nei decenni seguenti furono oggetto di una imponente opera di bonifica per permetterne lo sfruttamento agricolo per lo più con monocolture di mais e riso. Tale operazione non fu però immune da effetti negativi. Prima della bonifica le popolazioni ivi residenti, pur versando in condizioni di estrema povertà, potevano contare su una dieta adeguata dove l'apporto proteico era garantito dagli animali acquatici e dai pesci. La scomparsa degli acquitrini porto' quindi con se carenze nutrizionali che ebbero come conseguenza il dilagare della pellagra e con ciò anche una forte migrazione soprattutto verso l'America Latina.
