Very nice perspective .. especially the sun through the branches!
Hangs a little to the left because of the mountain too dark .. I would have preferred a clear sky (without the black diagonal cut it) ..
the rest is good and you can see a bit of aurora!
The Lofoten Islands are very beautiful .. I've been there in the summer two years ago and I would go back in the winter x dawn!
is a long time that I'm going to take an ultra-wide and I was thinking just 8-16 but also wanted to make dark photos (with starry sky and aurora borealis maybe one tomorrow), but I thought it was too dark as a goal!
This is the first picture I see with a 8-16 night .. I wanted to know how it goes: How long exposure in the photo? xkè I see that the iso are relatively low! Your own judgment and on targetsome advice on the purchase: I had in mind a goal x landscapes .. even at night!
Anyway congratulations x the photo 8-)

I think it's the moon at its sunrise or sunset ....

You're perfectly right Sunblack, it's the moon and not the sun. At this time of the year (january 3rd), the sun doesn't show up in the sky, only some of his diffused light can be observed!

Thanks for your observations Carlez. You should go there in the winter, the Lofoten are definitely worth a visit at this time. It's true that the days are very short but the lights are extremely beautiful and sometimes the sunsets last for hours which is awesome for photography! On top of that there are really few visitors which is great, you can sometimes stop in the middle of the road to take pictures because there are no cars showing off for many hours!

I'm really happy with this 8-16mm sigma, from what I've read on many websites this is one of the best alternatives for ultra wide angle on a APS-C sensor. The Tokina 11-16 and Canon 10-22 are great also but the 8mm at the wide angle does really make a difference if you are interested in ultra wide angle photography. It's not as fast as the Tokina but if you like shooting landscape I believe this is not that much of an issue since you will want to go for small apertures. I think this lens is great also for night photography because you will work on a tripod anyway and the wide aperture doesn't matter that much. What's more, the lens is really sharp in my opinion even though I've heard that quality might vary depending on the copy you get. I really recommend it however and most of the reviews I've seen so far are very positive about it.
Oh and by the way this picture was a 30 seconds exposure!

Cheers,
Vincent
