ISO 200, tripod.

I've found this almost dead Vespa crabro specimen lying on the ground in a garden and made some stacks of it, I enjoy a lot seeing this beautiful big wasp in action. I saw it once eating a butterfly in less than a minute, it throws away the wings and the legs and eats only the body. A fascinating species for me. And yes, it stings! :) 48 stacked natural light exposures at ISO 200 made with Nikon D7000, Nikon PB-6 belllows and reversed Rodenstock Rodagon 80/4 lens. Photographed on 14.09.2011.

Just to be sure - this is a focus stack taken in the field of an almost dead wasp.

Thanks in advance for you comments, criticism and suggestions. Sorriso

Thanks all for the visit and comments!

Flavio - not possible in this one, this species has very long antennae, the perspective would have been lost.

I must congratulate for your patience in building such a large number of shots, Which is not easy, but you have Achieved something enviable. The Light That hits the nose was better to mitigate diffuse reflection
