La Officine Ermini Firenze fu fondata nel 1932 dall'ex pilota Pasquale "Pasquino" Ermini che poi... nel 1947... diede vita alla Scuderia TESS (Testa Emisferica Super Sport). Inizialmente la Ermini si occupava della preparazione di auto per diversi piloti mentre dal 1946 inizierà la costruzione di proprie vetture che al 1956... anno della chiusura dell'azienda a causa dell'ammalarsi gravemente del suo fondatore... saranno una ventina tutte adattate alle richieste dei compratori più un autotelaio... così le Ermini a causa di differenti finiture sono tutte differenti fra di loro. Le 1100 Sport Siluro... come questa visibile nella fotografia... furono costruite nel biennio 1950-51. Su un telaio della Gilco di Milano ed una carrozzeria dei Fratelli Mariani di Pistoia era montato un motore di 1089 cn3 a 4 cilindri in linea di derivazione Fiat erogante 82 cavalli di potenza. Tutti i motori Fiat 1100 utilizzati dalla Ermini diventeranno bialbero in testa dopo la loro elaborazione. La vettura che qui vediamo... fotografata durante un temporale... è stata restaurata ed allestita come gareggiò alla 1000 Miglia del 1951 nei giorni di sabato 28 e domenica 29. Fu portata in gara con il numero 221 da D'Angelo e Scarlatti. Nel 2007 la Ermini riprenderà vita, sempre a Firenze, come Ermini Automobili Italia Srl e nel 2014 viene presentata la Seiottosei... una Barchetta tipo "Targa" progettata insieme alla Osella Corse e dotata di un motore Renault 2 litri a 4 cilindri capace di 320 cavalli e 270 chilometri orari di velocità massima... che viene prodotta in soli 9 esemplari.
