La grande piana delle marshes del Savuti, ormai trasformata da anni in una prateria arsa dal sole ci ha riservato l'incontro con il piccolo protele, che al sicuro nella sua piccola tana ci ha sbirciato varie volte. Visto che i miei compagni di viaggio nell'altra jeep non avevano capito di cosa si trattasse quando la guida diceva Aardwolf, il piccoletto anche dopo i chiarimenti è stato soprannominato Adolfo, ed è diventato ai miei occhi la mascotte del viaggio; ho insistito per andare a trovarlo durante la nostra permanenza nel campo di Savuti, e sebbene non vicinissimo siamo riusciti ad andare a trovarlo due volte al giorno; mi piace pensare che sia ancora lì, al sicuro da leoni e leopardi - Protele (Proteles cristatus), Savuti, agosto 2019
