Versione aggiustata rispetto a quella postata ieri. Foto al fuoco diretto di un telescopio Maksutov-Cassegrain da 127/1500. Somma di 10 migliori foto con Autostakkert. Con GIMP ho aumentato gradualmente la saturazione di un livello di crominanza senza sharpening dei dettagli, mentre lo sharpening è stato fatto su un livello di luminanza. Ecco il testo che ho preparato a corredo dell'immagine per la pagina Facebook del mio gruppo astrofili: Vi siete mai chiesti se la Luna ha dei colori? La risposta è sì, anche se sono molto tenui e quindi il nostro satellite ci appare praticamente grigio. Attraverso una particolare tecnica di elaborazione grafica, detta "Mineral moon", è però possibile fare emergere i colori reali della Luna, che sono dovuti alla composizione dei minerali sulla sua superficie. In particolare, un colore blu indica aree basaltiche (rocce di origine vulcanica) ricche di titanio, più invece ci si sposta verso il rosso più si è in presenza di basalti ferrosi. Una curiosità: sulla sinistra nell'immagine è ben visibile la struttura in assoluto più brillante di tutta la Luna, ovvero il cratere Aristarchus. Tale cratere è molto chiaro perché è relativamente giovane (si è formato "solo" 450 milioni di anni fa!) e quindi non è ancora stato scurito dal bombardamento dei raggi cosmici.
