Ripresa da una feritoia del castello di Rocca Calascio con sullo sfondo la Catena del Gran Sasso. La chiesa si trova lungo il sentiero che porta al Castello di Rocca Calascio a 1482 m s.l.m. sul luogo dove, secondo la tradizione , la popolazione sconfisse una banda di briganti che, provenienti dal vicino Campo Imperatore nello Stato Pontificio, stavano per imperversare nei possedimenti della famiglia Piccolomini. La chiesa affianca il castello normanno della Rocca, è aperto alle cerimonie religiose solo in speciali ricorrenze e la sua apertura è gestita da un gruppo di volontari del comune di Calascio.
