Saint-Jean-de-Losne : Marina sul un canal de la Saône che sbocca sul canale de Bourgogne : Jacque lavora in fabbrica ma 2 volte la settimana per "arrotondare" lo stipendio si occupa della pulizia delle acque della marina che sono infestate d'alghe. Jacque ha adattato al motore di un piccolo rimorchiatore una pompa che aspira e tritura le alghe e le invia in sacco a rete, una sorta d'aspirapolvere insomma, poi le alghe vengono scaricate su un bacino apposito per poi essere trattate e infine utilizzate comme concime per l'agricultura.
