Ciao Cristina

The mouflon is the only wild sheep living in Europe and lives in the mountains of Sardinia and Corsica. The Sardinian mouflon, a native species of Sardinia, once threatened with extinction is now enjoying a revival numbers. The mouflon in fact arrived on the brink of extinction in the 70s with only 300 copies remained, mainly because of poaching, fires and competition from livestock. Now, thanks to adequate protection work has seen its population net growth in recent years and now estimated at about 7,000 specimens located in Ogliastra, Gennargentu Mountains and the Supramonte and Monte Albo where the presence is original and in areas such Pabarile, Capo Figari, and Asinara where it has been reintroduced.
