Non siamo abituati a vedere un cielo così scuro e limpido dove viviamo. Nelle Isole Canarie, guardare verso l'alto è un'esperienza totalmente diversa. Si può percepire quanto l'universo sia grande. Spero questa foto possa rendere l'idea di cosa ho provato in quel momento

The green band you see above the horizon is the airglow. Light emitted by oxygen molecules in the upper atmosphere. It is only seen in the darkest places (in Italy only somewhere in the Alps). There is some light pollution from the inhabited settlements (it would have been perfect if it hadn't been there) but it's no brighter than the Milky Way.
