Dopo aver letto alcuni post sul blog di juza ho deciso di scrivere una breve nota. Premetto di non aver mai partecipato a viaggi organizzati e di non aver mai pagato nessuno per un mio scatto, parlo un pò di Hindi e per cui sono facilitato nel rapporto con la gente locale, con cui stabilisco quasi sempre un ottimo rapporto. Difficilmente chiedo se posso scattare perchè fortunatamente gli Indiani sono un popolo curioso e socievole. Non ho mai organizzato set fotografici e gli scatti che posto sono per naturali, in questo caso sono riuscito ad entrare in questo orribile posto con qualche piccolo stratagemma, dopo essere stato buttato fuori dal precedente, dove il tentativo era stato inutile, forse per la presenza di tanti bambini costretti ad aiutare le famiglie e lavorare in condizioni disumane, con temperature da arrostire e costretti a respirare sostanze tossiche usate per la combustione nel cuocere i mattoni. Ripeto condizioni davvero disumane per quanto riguarda , igiene, salute e temperature con sbalzi dal freddo al caldo davvero estremi a secondo delle stagioni, per non parlare poi dei salari da fame, gli operai (donne, uomini, bambini) lavorano e dormono in luogo in baracche con tetti di lamiera e muri fatti di mattoni (da loro fabbricati in maniera artigianale) appoggiati uno sopra l'altro senza malta. La foto è stata scatta appena fuori Jaipur dove posti di questo tipo ce ne sono moltissimi...le ciminiere si possono vedere in lontananza, cosa veramente triste. Sicuramente il costo di un mattone prodotto artigianalmente è ancora inferiore a quello che potrebbe essere prodotto in fabbrica proprio per il salario che percepisce questa povera gente per lo più Dalit (cioè...senza casta).
