Il Million Hope era un cargo lungo 176 metri che, partito da Aquaba nel 1996, trasportava tonnellate di potassio e fosfati .Non si conoscono bene le cause del suo affondamento sul basso reef di Nabq ( poche miglia a nord di Sharm) : sembra che ci sia stato un incendio a bordo oppure che si sia trattato di alta velocità in un momento di scarsissima visibilità oppure entrambe le cause.Sta di fatto che questa nave è poggiata su un fondale di 28 metri a ridosso del reef ed i suoi comignoli sono ancora visibili fuori dall'acqua. Il primo tentativo di recupero riguardò l'elica propulsiva, venne attrezzato un pontone con una grande gru che, ahimè, al primo tentativo di recupero finì in fondo al mare con tutto il pontone.A parte i giochi di luce all'interno del relitto, per me la vera attrazione in questa immersione è il traliccio della gru: è un vero spettacolo essendo stato, negli anni, colonizzato da centinaia di variopinti alcionari ed abitato da nuvole di glass fishes e relativi predatori .Qui le immersioni si possono fare solo in condizioni di mare piatto perché le barche non possono attraccare, ma aspettare vale veramente la pena.lo scorso settembre non ero riuscito ad andare ,in questa vacanza di giugno sono riuscito a fare due tuffi ,il secondo quasi totalmente dedicato al traliccio.
